Contribute to the Global Lineage Initiative

IST Institute Press welcomes proposals from scholars, translators, educators, researchers, and independent thinkers whose work advances understanding of systems, human dignity, historical inquiry, and the ideas that shape human societies.

As the publishing imprint of the Institute of Integrated Systems Thinking (IIST), the Press serves the Global Lineage Initiative, an ongoing effort to recover, interpret, and transmit humanity’s shared legacy of systemic thought. We are particularly interested in works that illuminate enduring questions of human dignity, social organization, governance, justice, culture, and civilizational development across historical periods, intellectual traditions, and geographic regions.

We invite submissions in a variety of formats, including:

  • Original scholarly monographs
  • Edited volumes
  • Translations of historical texts
  • Critical editions and commentaries
  • Human rights scholarship
  • Systems thinking and interdisciplinary studies
  • Educational and curricular materials
  • Essays and works of public scholarship
  • Literary and historical works that contribute to the mission of the Global Lineage Initiative

What We Look For

The Institute welcomes diverse methodologies, perspectives, and intellectual traditions. Authors and translators are not expected to adhere to any particular school of thought. We seek works that demonstrate intellectual rigor, historical awareness, and a meaningful contribution to the understanding of human systems, social organization, governance, justice, and human dignity.

Projects are evaluated on the basis of:

  • Scholarly and intellectual merit
  • Originality and contribution to knowledge
  • Relevance to the mission of the Press
  • Educational and public value
  • Long-term significance and impact

Authors and Translators as Partners

IST Institute Press recognizes authors and translators as essential contributors to the creation and transmission of knowledge. We strive to build collaborative relationships that respect intellectual labor and support the broad dissemination of important ideas. Depending on the nature of the project, publication agreements may include a variety of partnership and compensation models.

Submission Guidelines

All proposals and manuscripts are submitted and managed through our Open Monograph Press platform.

Prospective authors and translators should create an account and follow the submission process provided by the system. The platform allows contributors to upload proposals and manuscripts, track the progress of their submissions, communicate with editors, and receive review decisions.

Depending on the nature and stage of the project, submissions may include:

  • A project proposal or prospectus
  • A table of contents
  • Sample chapters or manuscript excerpts
  • Translation samples
  • A curriculum vitae or professional biography
  • Additional supporting materials relevant to the project

Review Process

Submissions undergo an initial editorial assessment to determine their suitability for the Press and alignment with the Global Lineage Initiative. Selected projects may be reviewed by members of the Editorial Board and external specialists with relevant expertise.

The Institute is committed to maintaining high standards of integrity, editorial transparency, and constructive engagement throughout the review process.

We look forward to learning about your work and exploring how it may contribute to the Global Lineage Initiative and its mission of bringing humanity’s shared legacy of systemic thought to contemporary audiences.
