Integrated knowledge in Learning

Integrated knowledge in Learning

In an increasingly diverse and interconnected world, now more than ever, there is need for learners (students in colleges or workers in training) to master both depth of understanding in a major field and a broad range of skills and knowledge to to do whatever professional tasks. With the climate change become a reality, sustainability and human rights as essential for 21st century and beyond.

National professional organizations and accreditors including the American Association for the Advancement of Science, the Commission on Accreditation in Physical Therapy Education, and the Association of American Colleges and Universities emphasize the importance of integrated learning for student success.

Integrated knowledge in learning is the natural evolution of the multidisciplinary teaching and research. In integrated knowledge in learning, as is the case with integrated knowledge in research, the emphasis is not on method, approach, or theory. Rather the emphasis is on knowledge: settled knowledge in one discipline that can inform and validate findings in another discipline. Integrated knowledge is a movement to manage fragmentation and segmentation of information in the various fields of critical inquiry and experimental sciences and discovery.

Integrated knowledge learning applies the same principle: make available learning tools and practices from diverse disciplines so that success and opportunity are shared.
